NY Transit Museum

Worth a detourDowntown, Brooklyn·I’d go back

Every subway type from the early 1900s on, parked in the tunnels under the museum. Worth the visit alone. Great for kids, also genuinely interesting for adults.

What it is

Housed in a 1936 subway station, this museum features interactive exhibits like vintage trains.

Also on the block, if you have time

Center for Brooklyn History (0.3 mi, free).

Skip Salvator Mundi Museum (0.8 mi), even if you’re passing: “Why does this exist? It’s a painting in front of a door, and they sell tomato sauce.”
